Chapter 6

Day 15

0900 Hours

Kal awoke with a jolt. This was the day. He glared at the lock that kept him inside this hell hole. Maybe Kal would actually escape this time. Last time he tried, he ended up falling asleep. Plus, he really needed to pee and he wasn't about to piss himself. Kal glared at the nightstand, where he knew the key to his freedom was. He knew it was there, because he had seen his kidnapper tuck away the key there. Too bad it was just out of his reach. Or, maybe if Kal stretched

School

Aaron sighed a relief when the bell rang, signalling first half of the students for lunch, and next block class. He just so happened to have the first lunch. His class before lunch always seemed to be complaining about being hungry, and his rule of no food or drinks, except water. It drove him mad, so he assigned them book work most of the time. He had the worst batch of students for that class.

Aaron made his way to the cafeteria to get his food and then to the teachers' lounge. In there, the teachers seemed to talk about Kal and the kidnappings a lot, but lately, they seemed to be easing off it a bit. Occasionally he would be asked his opinion about the matter, but not often. Today was no different. Aaron seemed to be interrupting a private conversation when he walked in. "Oh, don't mind me, I'm just here to eat my lunch. No gossiping about the town's recent kidnapping for today," He mumbled.

Aaron sat down at the far end of the table, munching on his sandwich. After some long and awkward stares, they continued to mumble and gossip.

"Now some lady is saying she saw the poor boy get kidnapped!"

"What? Why didn't she mention it earlier! Couldn't Kal could have been murdered by now?"

"Yeah, well, they can't say for sure, even though he has been missing for quite some time. How long has it been now? Half a month! But the lady said the kidnapper was a male, and looked a lot like...y'know..." The teacher made the slightest motion towards Aaron. Their whispers became even quieter as they leaned in some more. Aaron was listening to whatever his ears could get, but couldn't get much out of it.

"But, what if he is? We—this school, I mean, might have a kidnapper, running loose among teenagers. He might try to... y'know."

One of them took a bite of an apple, shaking his head. "Yeah, but the information shows that Kal was no younger than eighteen, but not older than twenty five. So he was an adult,"

"But that does not excuse the kidnapping of an innocent male!"

"Shhhh!" They all glanced at Aaron, who seemed to be minding his own business.

Aaron sighed, and stood up. He dumped out his tray and went to the return the plastic. This was bad.

"Poor boy" Aaron heard one of them say as the door closed, feeling eyes on his back too.

If they're already suspecting him, it would be in no time someone comes knocking. Dammit, he would have to be careful with the next one. The place was just so deserted, Aaron didn't think anybody would be standing there.

Home

"Just... A little... more...!" Kal attempted, stretching farther than he has in years, even though he was sure he wasn't meant to be stretching this far. Kal's fingertips just brushed the knob to open the drawer. He scooted closer, as if it would make a difference. His body was already pressed to the bars as close as possible.

Moments later, and he was finally able to wrap his fingers around the knob. Kal yanked it as hard as he could, hoping to dislodge it from its place. However, the drawer seemed to be in perfect condition. "Crap!" Kal tried to tug and pull. Instead, he ended up tipping the dresser over, with the lamp. Kal shrieked when it all came crashing down. At least it was closer now.

Quickly, Kal tipped over the large objects and rummaged through, trying to find the key. It was hard, still being chained and all. Soon he found a key ring with familiar looking keys on it. Two, in fact. He guessed one was for the lock and the other for the handcuffs.

1600 Hours

A door slammed and Kal raised his head in panic. He was peeing. Kal quickly zipped up his pants, not even bothering to wash his hands, or flush. Kal though that if he were to go out there, he'd risk getting caught, and if he were to stay in there, he'd be found out he was missing, and when Aaron found him, Kal was going to be in a heap of trouble. Kal decided the shower was the best place to hide for the moment.

Moments later he heard footsteps rushing and stomping about. Things fall and crashing on the floor, follow by his name being screamed over and over again. He could hear the panic in his kidnapper as he ran through his house. Just when Kal thought he was safe to leave, the bathroom door opened. "Kal?" He heard Aaron say. Kal clasped his hands over his mouth. Thinking it would be better to sidestep a little to avoid detection, he slipped. Kal tried to grab onto something, anything, but ended up making it worse and had everything fall. Immediately the shower curtain was pulled back, and a fuming Aaron was staring down at him.

There sat Kal, with a ton of junk on surrounding him. He looked up and waved. Aaron growled, and grabbed him by the wrist, ripping him up and out of the shower. "Ow!"

Aaron slapped him, once on each cheek. Kal went to go rub them, but Aaron grabbed his hand. "Wha-" Kal was violently torn out of the bathroom and dragged down the hall. His kidnapper practically shoved him down the stairs.

Kal landed on the bottom of the stairs, tripping his way down and going almost head first into the wall in from of it. Aaron, still scowling, shoving him alongside the walls and floor, not even waiting for him to get up. Kal whimpered and he was being dragged by the arm like rag doll, holding back tears.

"See what happens when you try to escape? This!" Kal opened his mouth to defend himself, but was cut off but a squeeze to the throat, and being shot up to stand. He gasped for breath, trying to claw at his kidnapper's hands to let go. One look at the man and Kal could tell how furious he was. He was then chained up, not able to move an inch. Every time Kal cried out in pain, Aaron would tightened the straps tighter.

"Now, you will never move. Not unless I tell you to. You will never leave. Never speak," He spat out. Kal had never seen him this pissed off or nerve wracked. Kal watched as he turned his back, and headed up the stairs. The door slammed shut, severing all light.

Kal whimpered, the pain quickly becoming unbearable. He couldn't shift his body weight, or squirm, or twist it in any way. If he could, he would be in pure agony by the looks of the way his kidnapper strapped him. Kal sighed. He would have preferred to be killed now.
